Delegation from the Ministry of Defence of the Kingdom of Norway, which consisted of Mr Erik Lund-Isaksen, Secretary General in Norwegian MoD, then Mr Stian Jenssen, senior adviser in MoD, and LtCol Terje Haaverstad, Norwegian DA, visited SRI on June 2, 2010. Norwegian delegation was received by the Acting Head of the SRI Jovanka Saranovic, PhD, with coworkers, Head of Strategic Analysis and Security Integrations Department, Colonel Katarina Strbac, PhD, and Head of Military History Department, Milan Terzic, PhD. During the meeting, PhD Saranovic emphasized the significance of Norwegian donation for SRI capacity building and providing the equipment, as well as for a digitization of Military Archive. Previous cooperation was evaluated as a very successful, and some new activities for the future cooperation were proposed during the meeting.

Strategic Research Institute organized a round table entitled: “Simulation and Physiognomy of Modern Warfare” on May 26, 2010. The event was attended by many experts coming from Ministry of Defense, General Staff, military units, and a number of scholars from civilian faculties. Presentations were all about simulations and simulation technologies related to the military purposes, mainly to the next: research results from one study about swarming concept simulation; role and possibilities of simulation methodology in development of weapon systems and defining tactical and technical requirements; and survey of current organizational development of simulation facilities for military training supported by simulation technology at Military Academy and General Staff. Appreciable discussions after presentations confirmed importance and actuality of the topic. It was pointed out next aspects that should be taken into account in the future: importance of development of peculiar research capacities in the field of simulation; cooperation and teamwork, as well as a need for research on topics related to a set of real problems of development and transformation of military units; and need for modernization of simulators in military units.

On April 28-30, 2010 military historians from SRI returned a visit to the German Office for Military History Researches (MGFA). In the delegation were: Milan Terzic, PhD and Captain Dalibor Denda, M.Sc. MGFA director Colonel Hans Hubertus Mack, PhD, and Mr. Michael Epkenhans, PhD. from the Research Department received the Serbian delegation. That was the eighth meeting between Serbian and German colleagues and the opportunity to analyze previous cooperation. The place and role of institutes, their future and possible cooperation were discussed. German side offered the opportunity to the Serbian side to participate in the joint EU project of writing European Military History.
